Government Launches Rs 4,531-Crore Market Access Support for Exporters

The first component of the Export Promotion Mission prioritises MSMEs through mandated participation with fully online processing.

Overview

  • The Market Access Support programme carries a Rs 4,531 crore outlay for FY2025–31 with Rs 500 crore set for FY2025–26 and about Rs 330 crore earmarked to clear arrears from the older Market Access Initiative.
  • Funding will back buyer–seller meets, participation in overseas trade fairs and exhibitions, mega reverse buyer–seller meets in India, and trade delegations, guided by a rolling three‑to‑five‑year event calendar.
  • At least 35% of participants in supported events must be MSMEs, delegations are benchmarked at a minimum of 50 firms with flexibility as needed, and small exporters with turnover up to Rs 75 lakh will get partial airfare support.
  • Cost sharing is standardised at 60% government and 40% private, rising to 80% for priority sectors, with event caps such as Rs 5 crore for buyer–seller meets and Rs 10 crore for reverse buyer–seller meets.
  • All processes run through the trade.gov.in portal with mandatory feedback to measure outcomes, and upcoming additions include product‑demo support, a Trace sub‑component for compliance costs, and an IEC‑based performance index; officials stressed this is a structural push, not a direct response to recent US tariffs reported in coverage.
