Government Launches PM Dhan-Dhanya Plan and Pulses Mission to Revamp 100 Farm Districts

Rollout begins in the coming rabi season, running through 2030–31.

  • The two central schemes carry a combined outlay of Rs 35,440 crore—Rs 24,000 crore for PM Dhan-Dhanya and Rs 11,440 crore for the pulses mission—targeting 100 low-productivity districts.
  • Some reports pegged the broader package at about Rs 42,000 crore, reflecting different aggregation of scheme allocations and associated project inaugurations.
  • A convergence model will integrate 36 schemes across 11 departments to improve irrigation, crop diversification, post-harvest infrastructure and access to credit.
  • At the launch, 1,054 completed projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore were inaugurated, and foundation stones were laid for 50 more worth around Rs 815 crore across agriculture and allied sectors.
  • Allied investments included dairy projects worth Rs 947 crore inaugurated, a Rs 219 crore foundation-laying, and the Northeast’s first IVF lab in Guwahati under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission.
