- The Fuel Finder feed was launched for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and built by VE3 Global in February 2026 to supply official pump prices to third‑party websites and apps.
- In March VE3 Global changed the update rule so retailers only confirm prices when they change, removing routine reconfirmations that previously showed a price was freshly verified.
- Independent checks published in July found multiple faults, including reversed coordinates, petrol stations plotted hundreds of metres away, and hundreds of forecourts wrongly labelled as supermarkets or motorway sites.
- DESNZ says the service still gives households about £40 a year in savings while PetrolPrices and What Car? estimate the feed’s inaccuracies could cost the average motorist roughly £260 a year.
