Overview
- The government announced Friday that the Department of Commerce prolonged Component II of the RELIEF scheme and kept the RoDTEP refund programme active through December 31, 2026.
- RELIEF Component II encourages exporters to take Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) cover for eligible shipments with 95% risk protection and a cap that prevents premiums from rising above pre-disruption levels for the covered period.
- Component II applies to Stand Alone and Whole Turnover ECGC policies obtained on or after March 16, 2026, and covers full container load, less-than-container-load and refrigerated cargo while excluding energy shipments.
- RoDTEP will continue to reimburse embedded and un-refunded central, state and local duties and prior-stage indirect taxes for eligible exporters and the ministry said the refund rates and value caps in effect on September 30 will remain unchanged during the extension.
- Launched on March 19 to respond to higher freight and insurance costs from Gulf and wider West Asia shipping disruptions, the combined measures aim to keep trade flowing, protect exporters' margins and give small and large sellers more certainty through year-end.
