Government Expands VALOUR Network to 34 Veteran Support Centres

OVA-led regional teams will link councils, Citizens Advice branches and charities to speed local access to health, housing, employment and wellbeing services

Overview

  • The government announced on Thursday that it has awarded a second VALOUR funding round of £13.2 million to 21 organisations to create new veteran support centres across the UK.
  • Combined with an earlier round that gave more than £13 million to 14 organisations, total allocations now exceed £26 million of a planned £50 million rollout due to complete by early 2027.
  • VALOUR will be run from a headquarters in the Office for Veterans’ Affairs inside the Ministry of Defence, with field officers tasked to coordinate regional partners and local delivery.
  • Recognised centres, a national helpline and GOV.UK resources will offer in-person and remote help for veterans and their families to access health care, housing support, employment advice and wellbeing services.
  • Official communications contain conflicting estimates of the veteran population served (references to both one million and two million), a messaging inconsistency that does not change the announced funding or timetable.
