• Harvey Morrison Sherratt’s parents met Tánaiste Simon Harris and Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill at Government Buildings on Monday.
• A joint statement from the family and the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Paediatric Advocacy Group and the Scoliosis Advocacy Network said the ministers committed to an inquiry.
• The inquiry will examine care for children with spina bifida and scoliosis at Children’s Health Ireland.
• The terms of reference are to be drafted in collaboration between parental advocacy groups, the Department of Health and the Tánaiste.
• Harvey, aged nine, died on July 29 after waiting almost three years for urgent spinal surgery, which went ahead late last year.
