The decision has drawn criticism from some Congress leaders, who allege political bias due to the delay in finalizing a site for former PM Manmohan Singh's memorial.
The Rashtriya Smriti Sthal already houses memorials for several former Presidents and Prime Ministers of India, and the process of selecting a site for Singh's memorial is reportedly ongoing.
Sharmistha Mukherjee also criticized the Congress for not holding a condolence meeting after her father's death, highlighting internal issues within the party.
