Government Allocates £750m to Repair England’s NHS and Schools

  • The government has launched the £750 million Estates Safety Fund to carry out urgent repairs at 42 NHS sites and 59 schools across England.
  • Greater Manchester trusts will receive £36.922 million for fixes to leaking pipes, faulty electrical systems and fire safety improvements.
  • Northern Lincolnshire’s Scunthorpe General and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospitals will share £5.8 million for roof repairs, medical gas system upgrades and energy system work.

  • Despite the funding, maintenance backlogs remain substantial, with North Devon District Hospital facing an estimated £44 million of outstanding repairs.
