Gov. Evers Appoints New Regent Amid Ongoing Board Standoff

Gov. Tony Evers has appointed Tim Nixon, a bankruptcy attorney, to the Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents.
Nixon's appointment follows Robert Atwell's refusal to step down despite his term ending.
The state Senate must confirm Nixon, but they are not expected to reconvene until January.
A 2022 court ruling allows political appointees to stay in their positions until successors are confirmed.
Evers also appointed Jack Salzwedel and Desmond Adongo to the board, both of whom can serve without Senate confirmation.
