Overview
- On Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, the Gotham Film & Media Institute announced its 2026 nominations with The Invite, All of a Sudden, Clarissa, Possible Love and La Gradiva each receiving four nods.
- Clarissa and The Invite are the only Best Feature nominees that meet the Gothams’ new U.S. qualification rule requiring at least two of the director, producer or screenwriter to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- The Audience Award returned after a six-year hiatus with an eight-film shortlist that includes Backrooms, La Bola Negra, The Invite, Project Hail Mary and You Can See Everything.
- Nominating committees made up largely of critics and festival programmers selected the nominees, separate juries of film professionals will choose winners, and the awards will be handed out Nov. 30 at Cipriani Wall Street in Lower Manhattan.
- The institute removed its previous budget cap in 2023 and expanded Best Feature last year, changes that broadened which distributors and films qualify and helped A24 and NEON lead this year’s nomination counts with heightened awards-season visibility for their titles.
