GoPro Files Reported Deleted in Resinovich Case as New Forensic Tests Begin

Prosecutors pursue a homicide hypothesis, with court-ordered analyses in Ancona aiming to resolve clashing medical conclusions.

Overview

  • Polizia Postale informed prosecutor Maddalena Chergia that deletion of GoPro files occurred on June 13, 2023 around 20:37, the same day a judge rejected archiving and directed further inquiries.
  • Fresh genetic, merceological and dactyloscopic examinations began on September 8 at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Ancona, starting with fibers found on the victim’s jacket that differ from the garment.
  • Sebastiano Visintin, the sole suspect, told Rai’s Porta a Porta that the GoPro was in prosecutors’ custody for months and that investigators had downloaded all files, alleging enormous errors in the probe.
  • TV reporting said most content from the action camera was lost, and prosecutors’ reconstruction accuses Visintin of attacking and suffocating Liliana in Trieste on December 14, 2021.
  • Visintin continues to assert that Liliana died by suicide and seeks a third medico-legal review, while family members publicly raise questions about his conduct and potential financial motives.
