GOP Rep. Richard McCormick Admits to 'Unsafe Actions' at Capitol Dome
McCormick went past a security sign and railing, performed pull-ups over 200 feet in the air, and pretended to slide and fall, despite safety concerns.
- Rep. Richard McCormick of Georgia admitted to doing pull-ups at the top of the US Capitol Dome, insisting his actions were safe.
- McCormick was reported to the Sergeant of Arms for 'unsafe actions' by the Capitol Visitors Center while he was on a tour of the dome.
- McCormick went past a sign that read 'no person permitted above this platform under any circumstances' and over a security railing.
- The GOP representative then went to the 'Tholos' level of the Capitol dome, where he straddled a railing and — over 200 feet in the air — proceeded to pretend he was sliding and falling.
- McCormick's spokesperson Julie Singleton told Politico 'There was a miscommunication and we have apologized.'
