GOP Candidate Caught on Video Stealing Rival's Campaign Mailer

Joseph Mastroianni, running for New York State Assembly, faces backlash after being filmed taking a political mailer from a voter's mailbox.

Footage from a Ring doorbell camera shows Joseph Mastroianni removing a campaign flyer sent by incumbent Democrat Angelo Santabarbara from a mailbox in Scotia, New York.
Mastroianni, who is currently a member of the Rotterdam Town Board, replaced the removed flyer with his own campaign material.
The incident, which occurred on October 17, 2024, was reported to the U.S. Postal Service, state election officials, and local law enforcement by Schenectady County Democratic Committee chairman Frank Salamone.
Stealing mail is a federal offense, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service has not confirmed whether an investigation is underway.
Mastroianni has refused to comment on the allegations, despite criticism and calls for him to resign from his current position.
