Overview
- Google announced an Android Drop this week that delivers five Gemini-powered features to many Android phones, including memory for item locations, camera-guided descriptions, motion-sickness assistance, device troubleshooting and Messages integrations.
- Google Messages already began rolling out shared, editable Google Keep notes and per-chat backgrounds so groups can collaborate inside conversations without switching apps.
- Gemini’s item-memory saves user-provided locations in the Find Hub so users can later ask Gemini where they left things, but the feature requires Android 16 or newer and availability only in countries where Gemini and Find Hub are supported.
- Guided Vision in Gemini Live will use the phone camera to describe scenes and give spoken instructions to reposition the camera for better results on devices running Android 9 or later, and Motion Assist shows moving on-screen points to ease passenger nausea but requires Android 17.
- A new Device Help tool lets Gemini change settings and guide troubleshooting, but it has so far been spotted only on a Pixel 11 Pro running Android 17 with Gemini 3.7 Flash and Google has not published a broader OEM rollout schedule.
