Google's Pixel 10 Series Reaches Stores With AI Upgrades and Camera Gains

Early tests point to useful on-device features powered by the new Tensor G5.

Overview

  • Retail availability is live after the August 28 launch, with Engadget scoring the Pixel 10 Pro at 94 and broader reviews now underway.
  • The standard Pixel 10 adds a dedicated 5x telephoto for the first time, while the Pixel 10 Pro introduces AI-driven Pro Res Zoom up to 100x that some reviewers note can generate rather than capture fine detail.
  • Both phones run Google’s Tensor G5 and emphasize local AI including Magic Cue and Gemini, though Magic Cue operates primarily within Google Messages at launch.
  • Model differences remain: the Pro gets an LTPO display, larger camera sensors and 16GB of RAM, the base phone has 12GB, both add Pixelsnap (Qi2) magnetic charging, and the Pixel 10’s battery is slightly larger at about 4,970 mAh versus 4,870 mAh on the Pro.
  • Pricing and deals vary by region, with the Pixel 10 Pro starting at $999.99 in the U.S. and Rs. 1,09,999 in India, and Amazon currently offering a $200 gift card with purchase of the unlocked Pro model.
