Overview

• Google's first-of-its-kind geothermal power plant, developed in partnership with Fervo Energy, is now fully operational in Nevada, feeding clean electricity into a local grid connected to Google's data centers in Las Vegas, Henderson and Reno.
• The facility uses enhanced geothermal system (EGS) technology, a novel method that relies on drilling techniques developed within the oil and gas industry, to generate clean electricity.
• The geothermal plant is part of Google's broader sustainability goal to power its office campuses and data centers using carbon-free energy by 2030.
• Fervo successfully completed an industry-standard 30-day trial run over the summer at its Project Red commercial pilot site in Nevada, where the geothermal plant produced 3.5 megawatts of sustained power.
• Fervo is currently working on a larger 400 megawatt geothermal facility located in Utah, scheduled to go online in 2026.
