Overview
- Google and the Transportation Security Administration announced the partnership Wednesday, June 24, 2026, and began a phased rollout that lets eligible travelers start the TSA PreCheck Touchless ID opt-in from a saved boarding pass in Google Wallet.
- To enroll a user creates a local digital passport ID in Google Wallet, adds a boarding pass, taps a “Get started” prompt that redirects to the TSA consent page, and receives a Touchless ID indicator on the pass after TSA verification.
- Google says digital IDs are encrypted and stored on the device and are shared with the TSA only after the user explicitly consents and unlocks the phone with a biometric or PIN.
- The feature is available only where TSA PreCheck Touchless ID is implemented—about 65 U.S. airports—and depends on participating airlines and user eligibility, with Google warning that rollout will expand over the coming weeks without a firm completion date.
