Google Wallet Adds Built-In Order Tracking for US Android Users

Enabling Gmail smart features plus re-authenticating a payment card lets Wallet surface receipts, tracking numbers and shipping status from Gmail

Overview

  • Google has rolled out a new Wallet feature that shows order receipts and package tracking inside the Android app for users in the United States.
  • The feature extracts detailed receipts, tracking numbers and shipping status from purchase confirmation emails in Gmail and displays them in Wallet.
  • Wallet surfaces an arriving-order card on the app homepage that opens to a fullscreen transaction view and offers a 'View more' path to a Transactions list with filters for orders and Google Pay activity.
  • To activate tracking users must turn on Gmail's Smart features in other Google products and re-authenticate a payment card, after which order data will also sync to Wear OS devices.
  • Google says the feature covers many top U.S. merchants, including Amazon and Google Play in-app purchases, but smaller sellers may not appear and the rollout is limited to Android users in the United States.
