Google Turns AI Mode Into A Conversational Travel Assistant

The update moves booking steps into conversational Search through partner checkout flows.

Overview

  • Google rolled out flight price tracking, points-and-miles pricing, and a limited U.S. hotel booking checkout, which it announced Thursday, August 27, 2026, as new features in AI Mode in Search.
  • Flight price tracking now works inside AI Mode using prices from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites and will email users when fares change in over 180 countries and territories.
  • AI Mode can show the cost of flights and hotels in loyalty points or miles using data from initial partners such as Alaska/Hawaiian, American, Choice, Hilton, and Wyndham with Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM and Lufthansa Group due soon.
  • Hotel booking has begun a U.S. English rollout that uses a “Continue on Google” flow and Google Pay while the hotel or booking platform remains the merchant of record and handles customer service.
  • The staggered, region-limited rollout excludes some EEA features and will expand partner coverage in the coming weeks, a shift that could change how online travel agencies buy search-driven traffic and capture booking intent.
