Overview

  • The “Verify it’s you to autofill passwords” option has emerged in Google Password Manager with a note that it’s coming soon to Chrome on Android.
  • This new setting replaces the existing app-only “Authenticate with biometrics before filling passwords” toggle to cover web browser autofills as well.
  • Once activated, Chrome on Android will prompt users for biometric or screen-lock verification before filling in saved credentials.
  • The update is designed to stop unauthorized access on lost or stolen devices by preventing automatic password entry.
  • Google has not announced an official release date but the feature’s appearance in settings suggests a broad rollout is imminent.
