Google Tests Unified Voice Search Toolbar on Android

The redesign groups classic search, an AI query mode, a conversational Live option and song lookup under a single bottom control to make voice queries faster and more fluid.

Reporters observed the new interface in the Google app beta, meaning the redesign is currently limited to testers and has not been widely released.
A Lens-style bottom toolbar lets users switch between four modes: classic Search, AI Mode, Search Live (conversational), and Song Search.
Standard Search now shows a four-bar animated waveform and a live transcription at the top of the screen as you speak.
In AI Mode users tap a next arrow to submit multi-step prompts while the stop button opens a Search box with an editable transcript, and the system remembers the last-used mode.
The change follows Google’s recent pattern of folding conversational AI features into core search surfaces and could alter how people use voice search if Google expands the beta into a full rollout.
