Google Tests ‘CC,’ a Gemini-Powered Email Agent With Morning Briefings

The waitlisted experiment prioritizes paid users in the U.S. and Canada and focuses on concise summaries and light actions as Google says personal content won’t train its core models.

Overview

  • CC emails a daily “Your Day Ahead” briefing that synthesizes schedule highlights, key tasks and updates, and can surface related documents, suggest email drafts, and provide calendar links.
  • Users can steer the agent by replying to its brief or emailing a dedicated +cc address to teach preferences, add to-dos, request summaries, or get follow-ups.
  • Early access is limited to consumer Google accounts for users 18+ in the U.S. and Canada, with a waitlist that prioritizes Google AI Pro/Ultra and other paid subscribers; it is not part of Workspace or Gemini Apps.
  • Google states connected Gmail, Calendar and Drive content is used only to provide the service, is governed by existing account permissions, and is not used to train core AI models, and users can disconnect CC from account settings.
  • Hands-on testing reported that Drive access was not yet enabled despite Google’s described vision, underscoring that current capabilities center on Gmail and Calendar and that CC is scoped away from full task automation.
