The victim, a 33-year-old Cuban man, was reported missing in November 2023 after suspicious text messages were sent from his phone to a relative.
Two suspects, the victim's partner and her ex-partner, were arrested in November 2024 after police linked them to the crime through various evidence, including the Google image.
Police discovered a dismembered torso, believed to belong to the victim, buried in a cemetery near Tajueco earlier this month; other body parts remain missing.
While the Google image was not decisive, it provided crucial leads, highlighting the growing role of technology in modern criminal investigations.
