Overview

  • Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1 (build BP41.250725.006) with the August 2025 security patch is available for Pixel 6 through Pixel 9 devices, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, several A-series models, and the Android Emulator.
  • Phones gain a dedicated lock screen widgets page that users can access with a swipe and customize with multiple widgets.
  • Home screen icon settings now offer Default, Minimal, and Create options, with Minimal replacing themed icons and Create present but not yet functional.
  • Google’s changelog lists an expanded dark theme, auto‑themed app icons, PDF annotation and editing, granular haptic controls, Quick Settings tile categories, media and connectivity updates, new privacy options, and developer‑focused APIs and tooling improvements.
  • Google says QPR betas are suitable for general use, and users on the QPR1 beta have a short window to opt out to the stable channel without wiping data before QPR2 installs.
