Google announced the 2026 Play Accelerator India cohort on Monday, naming 20 AI-powered app and game startups chosen for a three-month, equity-free programme.
The programme will give founders direct help with product quality, integrating AI responsibly, fixing security gaps, growing users, and building revenue models.
The cohort spans education, healthcare, gaming, agritech, finance, e-commerce and more, with examples including HeyDoc AI and MrMed in health, Kisanwala in agritech, and UrbanPro in education.
Google says the initiative pairs Google Play product expertise with tools from across its technology stack and hands-on mentorship from regional programme leads.
The announcement follows a broader push by major tech firms to back AI app developers and could speed user growth, raise security standards, and improve readiness for global expansion among India’s app startups.
