Overview

  • Google Photos users in the U.S. on Android and iOS can now convert any still image into a six-second video clip powered by the Veo 2 model.
  • A new Remix feature in Google Photos lets users transform pictures into anime, comics, sketch and 3D animation styles, rolling out in the coming weeks.
  • YouTube Shorts creators in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand can animate images and apply generative doodle and dynamic selfie effects via the AI Playground hub.
  • All AI-generated outputs carry invisible SynthID watermarks, visible labels on videos and thumbs up/down feedback buttons to guard against misuse.
  • Google has centralized the tools in dedicated Create and AI Playground tabs, with a more advanced Veo 3 video generator set to arrive on Shorts later this summer.
