Google Rolls Out October Android 17 Security Patch for Pixel Phones

The release fixes three critical Pixel vulnerabilities including a Bluetooth elevation-of-privilege flaw.

Overview

  • Google began a staged rollout of the October 2026 Android 17 security patch on Tuesday, delivering updates to supported Pixels via global and carrier-specific builds.
  • The patch bundles 28 Android platform fixes plus six Pixel-specific fixes that Google lists in its Pixel Security Bulletin.
  • Google’s bulletin flags three Critical vulnerabilities, including CVE-2026-55330, an elevation-of-privilege bug in the Pixel Bluetooth stack that could let code run with higher permissions.
  • The update also delivers three targeted bug fixes: a virtual keyboard not appearing in search fields, audio noise or distortion in ringtones during some VoIP calls, and photos/videos saving with the wrong orientation on Pixel 11 models.
  • Builds are split by device groups (including Softbank variants for Japan) and factory images and OTA files are posted for manual installation; this release is expected to be the final update for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro as those models reach end of life.
