Overview
- Google pushed Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 to enrolled Pixel devices on Oct. 20 as build DP11.261002.005 and distributed it through the Android Beta Program.
- A new Lock Quick Settings connectivity option, found under Display & touch > Lock screen, forces PIN, pattern, password, or biometric unlock before changing Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, mobile data, or Airplane Mode from Quick Settings.
- The release documents 21 fixes that address real problems such as intermittent crashes and reboots, Bluetooth pairing timeouts, high idle battery drain tied to motion sensors, Internet Quick Settings tile bugs, and screen recording freezes.
- Beta 2 is available to a wide set of Pixel models from the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 11 Pro Fold but remains test software so users are warned not to install it on a device they rely on daily.
- The update also adds small UX tweaks like a Wallpaper & Style theme‑pack carousel and represents another step in Google’s ongoing QPR polishing cycle to improve stability and limit actions a thief can take before an owner can locate or wipe a lost phone.
