Google Rolls Out Android 17 QPR1 in September Pixel Drop

The update consolidates months of beta testing into global build CP3A.260905.009, available as OTAs or factory images for manual sideloading.

Overview

  • The stable Android 17 QPR1 rollout began Tuesday, Sept. 15, and Google is distributing global build CP3A.260905.009 to supported Pixels from the Pixel 6 generation through Pixel 11.
  • The release focuses on Material 3 Expressive refinements including stronger system blur, a new swipeable media-player carousel, bouncier Quick Settings animations, a Keyboard Quick Settings tile, and a “Don’t ask me again” option for mobile data prompts.
  • Google bundled large security patches covering the 2026-09-01 and 2026-09-05 levels plus 110 device-specific fixes in its bulletin, and the update also delivers roughly 20 Pixel-targeted bug fixes across apps, camera, graphics, telephony and UI.
  • Users can get the update via staggered carrier OTAs or by sideloading factory images and OTA zips; the Pixel 11 series received earlier small September hotpatches so it may not show a separate CP3A.260905.009 entry.
  • Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro owners should note this is their final major update before the phones reach end-of-life for updates in October 2026, and Google is also pushing a September Google Play system update as a parallel channel for smaller platform fixes.
