Google Revives Snapseed on iOS With Retro Camera as Android Overhaul Nears

Google says Android development began in November with updates a few months away.

Overview

  • Version 3.11 on iOS adds the Snapseed Camera, a retro point‑and‑shoot mode with film‑style looks rendered live in the viewfinder and grain applied after capture.
  • The camera’s presets are labeled KP1, KP2, KG1, KE1, FS1, FS2, FP1, AG1, AS1, PD1, and TC1, drawing inspiration from classic film stocks.
  • iPhone users can launch the camera via a Control Center shortcut or by setting Snapseed as the default Camera Control app in Settings.
  • Snapseed 3.0’s redesign, already live on iOS, introduces a grid homepage, three editing tabs (Looks, Faves, Tools), a new dial controller, and grouped pro tools including RAW, curves, selective edits, and healing.
  • Snapseed’s product manager confirmed on Reddit that Android work started in November 2025 and that the redesigned app and features are expected to roll out in the coming months.
