Google Releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 for Pixel Devices
The build targets two widespread system bugs that caused idle battery drain from Flip to Shh and HTTPS downloads to fail.
Overview
- Google published Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 (build CP41.260831.016) for eligible Pixel devices on Friday, October 9.
- The update fixes an idle battery drain that kept processors awake when Flip to Shh engaged and restores HTTPS file downloads that had been failing through Android’s DownloadManager.
- System images for Beta 7 are available for a wide range of Pixels from the Pixel 6a through the Pixel 11 series and for the Android emulator, while the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro remain at end of life and are excluded.
- Testers can get the build via the Android Beta Program over the air, by flashing posted OTA or system images, or by sideloading, which is the fastest way to install the patch immediately.
- QPR2 fixes are arriving in parallel with a separate QPR3 beta stream that began earlier this month, and Google is relying on reports from the Android Beta Feedback app and community channels to validate fixes before a stable public release.
