Google Releases Android 17 QPR1 Beta 6, Declares Platform Stability

The maintenance build locks the API surface so developers can finish app work while Pixel testers get a polish-focused update ahead of a wider release.

Overview

  • Google rolled out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 6 (build CP31.260618.005) on July 1, and the company says the release has reached Platform Stability so framework and surface APIs are final.
  • System images and OTAs for Beta 6 are available for a broad range of Pixels from the Pixel 6 family through Pixel 10 and the Pixel Tablet, plus emulator images for x86_64 and ARM v8-A.
  • The update focuses on fixes rather than new features, resolving issues such as multi-language spell checker selection, volume-button behavior in the Clock app, Quick Settings media-carousel visual glitches, a WindowManagerGlobal crash, and Wi‑Fi hotspot SSID display.
  • Beta 6 also includes minor UI tweaks like a new Settings icon and a redesigned wallpaper picker and ships with metadata including security patch level 2026-06-05 and Google Play services ~26.20.31.
  • With Platform Stability reached, developers can finalize integrations and testers should report bugs via the Android Beta Feedback app or Google’s Issue Tracker as Google prepares a stable QPR1 rollout expected later this summer or around September.
