Overview

  • Remix leverages generative AI to transform still images into four cartoon styles—3D animation, anime, sketch and comic book—directly within the Photos app.
  • A new support page details the in-app workflow: tap Create new > Remix, select Try now, choose a style and photo, then Generate, with options to Regenerate, Save or Share.
  • Starting August 13, Google initiated a gradual, server-side rollout on Android and iOS so only a subset of users see the Remix option.
  • Google labels the feature as experimental, noting outputs may not perfectly match originals and recommending well-lit, single-subject images for best results.
  • Remix is provided free in Google Photos, distinguishing it from many subscription-based third-party AI art tools.
