Overview
- Google Photos is rolling out a Veo 2–powered Photo to video feature in the US on Android and iOS that animates still images into six-second clips via preset prompts.
- Google Photos will introduce a Remix tool for converting photos into anime, comic, sketch and 3D animation styles, alongside an August launch of a Create tab to centralize its creative tools.
- YouTube Shorts is deploying an image-to-video tool powered by Veo 2 across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand over the next week, allowing creators to animate photos with selectable clip lengths.
- It is also adding generative AI effects for doodles and selfies; an AI Playground hub within the Shorts camera surfaces prompts, examples and creation tools for creators.
- All generated photos and videos include invisible SynthID watermarks and visible labels; thumbs-up/down feedback will help improve safety and accuracy; a Veo 3 model upgrade is planned later this summer.
