Google Photos Introduces AI Edit Labels for Enhanced Transparency

Starting next week, Google Photos will display labels indicating when images have been edited using AI tools, aiming to improve user awareness and trust.

Google Photos will add visible labels to images edited with AI tools like Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, and Zoom Enhance.
The AI edit information will be displayed in the app's image details section, alongside file name and location data.
This initiative follows existing metadata standards set by the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC).
Google's update also includes labels for images composed of multiple photos using non-generative tools like Best Take and Add Me.
The move is part of Google's broader effort to enhance transparency and address concerns about AI-generated content authenticity.
