Google Photos Adds Face Shortcuts to Search for Faster People and Pet Finds

The new row of face shortcuts surfaces recognized people or pets only when Face Groups is turned on.

Overview

  • Google is rolling out a faces row in the Search tab, including within Ask Photos, that jumps straight to a person’s or pet’s images.
  • The shortcuts appear only with Face Groups enabled, which users can toggle in Settings > Privacy in the Photos app.
  • By default, the row highlights faces that appear most often, with a three‑dot menu linking to the full People & pets list.
  • The update is launching on Android and iOS, with one report confirming it on a Pixel 10 Pro running Photos version 7.57.843.
  • In Ask Photos, the faces row appears after tapping the search bar, whereas in the classic Search tab it shows near the top immediately.
