Google Meet Introduces AI-Generated Action Items and Caption History Features

The new Gemini-powered functionality creates task lists from meeting discussions and allows users to review the last 30 minutes of live captions.

Google Meet's AI, powered by Gemini, now generates a checklist of suggested tasks, complete with due dates and assigned participants, based on meeting discussions.
The action items feature is exclusive to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise subscribers, as well as users with Gemini Enterprise or AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons.
Users can review, edit, and customize the AI-suggested tasks, which are included in the meeting notes document shared after the meeting.
A new live caption history feature allows all users to scroll through and review the last 30 minutes of captions during a meeting, improving accessibility and convenience.
Google is rolling out these features gradually to monitor performance and quality, with the action items functionality being implemented at a slower pace than usual.
