Google Maps Power Saving Mode Rolls Out to Pixel 10 With AOD Lock‑Screen Navigation

The AOD-based mode moves navigation to a dim monochrome lock‑screen view to reduce display drain, with Google claiming up to four extra hours.

Overview

  • Google has begun a server‑side rollout to Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, following the November Pixel Drop announcement.
  • Power Saving Mode uses Android’s AOD Min Mode to show essential turn‑by‑turn details in black and white at lower brightness and refresh rates.
  • The feature is enabled by default and can be switched off in Google Maps under Settings > Navigation > Driving options.
  • During driving navigation, pressing the power button enters the simplified lock‑screen view; tapping the screen or power button returns the full UI, and it disables on arrival.
  • Support is limited to driving in portrait orientation, and Google has not announced availability for older Pixels, other Android devices, or non‑driving modes.
