Google Maps Adds Full Support for iPhone Duo Displays

The update shows stronger developer attention to Apple’s foldable iPhone by delivering an iPad-style wide layout and improved Street View on the Duo.

Overview

  • Google pushed version 26.44.4 to the App Store on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and reviewers report the app now fills both the Duo’s inner and outer screens.
  • The inner display gets a wide, iPad-like layout with menus and the search box on the left and the map or satellite view stretching corner to corner.
  • Street View now uses the extra inner-screen width by default, occupying the left side with the map on the right, and can be expanded to full-screen or moved to the outer display when the Duo is closed.
  • Before this update Google Maps showed layout artifacts such as a left-offset map and a vertical black border along the right edge; those issues are reportedly resolved in 26.44.4.
  • The change arrives as other major apps such as Zoom and Microsoft Office titles have issued Duo optimizations, and it highlights how developers are gradually delivering device-specific fixes even when App Store notes only list generic "bug fixes".
