Overview
- Google’s Battery Performance Programme will push Android 16 to all Pixel 6a devices from July 8.
- Only handsets labeled as “Impacted Devices” will have their battery capacity and charging performance reduced once they cross 400 charge cycles.
- Owners will see a notification at 375 cycles to warn of the upcoming activation of battery throttling.
- Affected users can choose between a free battery replacement, $100 cash or a $150 Google Store credit.
- The initiative follows similar Pixel 4a and 7a fixes and responds to reports of overheating, swelling and at least two fire incidents.
