Overview
- Google has begun emailing AI Plus subscribers to say that, starting November 13, 2026, they will no longer be able to select Gemini Pro models and will be limited to Flash and Flash‑Lite.
- Under the new allocation Gemini 4 Argon and Pro-level models are reserved for AI Pro ($19.99/month) and AI Ultra subscribers while the $4.99/month AI Plus plan drops to two models.
- Users who want to keep choosing Pro models must upgrade from AI Plus to AI Pro or AI Ultra, which raises monthly costs by at least $15 for most affected customers.
- The change applies to personal Gemini accounts and the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search, and does not affect API access, enterprise accounts, or managed Workspace subscriptions.
- Google links the shift to recent moves toward compute-based billing and selectable effort levels, but it has not published exact post-change compute formulas so how quickly users will consume allowances remains unclear.
