Overview
- Google announced that Gemini Spark can now access Google Photos to search, curate, edit and organize images on behalf of users.
- The feature performs multi-step workflows such as removing backgrounds, centering subjects, creating collages or albums, and saving edits as new copies so originals remain untouched.
- Spark can extract text from images and use that data to trigger follow-up actions like drafting a Google Doc, sending an email, or scheduling a Calendar event.
- Google says new albums are private by default and Spark will ask for explicit user confirmation before sharing links or sending messages; users must enable Google Photos in Spark’s Connected Apps to use the feature.
- The Photos integration is a paid capability that will roll out over the next few weeks to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S. and builds on Spark’s earlier connections to Gmail and Docs.
