Google Launches Search Live for Conversational Voice Search

Enrolled U.S. users in AI Mode Labs can now speak queries in the Google app to receive AI-generated audio answers alongside on-screen links, transcripts, planned camera integration.

Overview

  • Launched June 18, Search Live is available to U.S. users in the Google app on Android and iOS who opt into the AI Mode Labs experiment.
  • By tapping a new Live icon, users can speak queries to receive immediate AI-generated voice answers and ask natural follow-up questions.
  • The feature runs in the background while navigating other apps, and displays relevant web links in real time alongside audio responses.
  • Users can tap a transcript button to view text responses, switch to typing queries and revisit past conversations in AI Mode history.
  • In the coming months, Google plans to add live camera integration for real-time visual searches within Search Live.
