Overview

• Users can designate trusted friends or family as Recovery Contacts who help verify identity when standard recovery methods fail.
• Helpers receive a code via email or notification to confirm the user’s identity, and they do not gain access to the account or personal data.
• Recovery Contacts are available to eligible personal Google Accounts, with setup in the redesigned Security section of myaccount.google.com.
• Android adds a Sign in with Mobile Number option that identifies accounts by phone number and verifies using the previous device’s lockscreen passcode, so no password is required.
• The phone-number sign-in is rolling out globally over time, and Google will host in-person scam and fraud workshops for seniors in New York City on October 21 and in Mountain View on October 28.
