Overview

  • The feature begins rolling out today in English searches across the U.S. and India, automatically applying selections from earlier Search Labs participants
  • Users tap a star icon next to Top Stories, search for preferred outlets and refresh results to see more content from those sites
  • Chosen sources appear more frequently in Top Stories or in a new “From your sources” section when they publish fresh, relevant coverage
  • There is no cap on how many outlets can be added, letting users build broad or niche news mixes
  • Google has published guidance for publishers to encourage readers to opt in even as critics warn the setting may reinforce filter bubbles
