- Google began rolling out Google Pics to eligible Workspace business plans and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers on Sept. 1, with a standalone editor at pics.new and Drive support arriving in the coming weeks.
- Pics uses Google’s Gemini Nano Banana image model to offer precise object segmentation, in-image text editing and translation, multiple generations, batch edits, and upscaling to 2K and 4K.
- The feature appears inside Docs and Slides as an editor overlay so users can edit images without switching apps, and collaborators can share and co-edit images from the same interface.
- Google is enabling Pics by default for qualifying domains but gives admins switches to disable it and is rolling the product to Scheduled Release domains starting Sept. 15 on a gradual timetable.
- Google says Workspace customer data will not be used to train its generative Workspace models without customer permission, and it warns access levels now are temporarily higher through Feb. 28, 2027, so IT teams should plan policy and licensing reviews as use spreads.
