Google Launches Gemini Pro for Vertex AI

The new AI model is now accessible via the Gemini API, with a dedicated Gemini Pro Vision multimodal endpoint also available.

Google has launched Gemini Pro, a lightweight version of its flagship gen AI model, for Google Cloud customers using Vertex AI.
Gemini Pro API in Vertex accepts text as input and generates text as output, similar to generative text model APIs like Anthropic’s, AI21’s and Cohere’s.
Google has also launched a dedicated Gemini Pro Vision multimodal endpoint that accepts text and imagery as input, with text output.
Google AI Studio, a free, web-based developer tool, enables developers to quickly develop prompts and then get an API key to use in their app development.
Developers have free access to Gemini Pro and Gemini Pro Vision through Google AI Studio, with up to 60 requests per minute, making it suitable for most app development needs.
