Google Launches Gemini ‘Personal Intelligence’ Beta to Tap Gmail, Photos and More

The opt-in feature begins rolling out this week to paying U.S. subscribers on personal accounts.

Overview

  • Once enabled, Gemini can pull details from Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Photos, YouTube watch history, and Google Search services to deliver personalized, context-aware answers.
  • Personal Intelligence is off by default, allows app-by-app connections, and Google says it does not train directly on users’ inboxes or photo libraries.
  • Gemini surfaces how it used connected data with an Answer now flow that references sources so users can verify the information behind a response.
  • Google cautions about possible inaccuracies and over-personalization and says guardrails limit proactive assumptions about sensitive areas such as health.
  • The beta is available on Android, iOS, and the web across Gemini 3 models, with plans to expand to the free tier, additional countries, and Search’s AI Mode.
