Overview
- Google began rolling out Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 (build CP41.260701.005) to Pixel testers and the Android Emulator on July 20–21, with system images available for Pixel 6a and newer models.
- The preview is a bug-fix release that addresses Bluetooth re-pairing failures, lock-screen media control flashing, Gemini-related reboots, multi-finger drag-and-drop touch loss, invisible notifications, ML-DSA key-generation errors, accessibility logging issues, and window-level blur rendering.
- A small SDK update accompanies the preview so developers can test app compatibility for the December 2026 Pixel Feature Drop that QPR2 serves to validate.
- Google confirmed Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will not receive QPR2 and are reaching end of life with the Android 17 QPR1 branch, leaving those devices without further quarterly updates.
- Users must join the Android Beta Program to get the OTA and should note that opting out after installing a beta triggers a downgrade OTA that wipes user data, which raises practical choices for owners of older Pixels weighing upgrades or device repurposing.
