Google Issues Emergency Chrome Update After In-the-Wild Zero-Day Exploit

Google says an exploit for internal bug 466192044 is active and is limiting technical details until most users receive the fix.

Overview

  • Stable-channel updates are rolling out to Windows (143.0.7499.109), macOS (143.0.7499.110) and Linux (143.0.7499.109), with Chrome 143 for Android and a ChromeOS update also released.
  • Chromium tracking ties the flaw to a buffer overflow in the LibANGLE/ANGLE Metal renderer that can trigger memory corruption and potentially arbitrary code execution.
  • This is the eighth Chrome zero-day exploited in attacks that Google has patched in 2025, continuing a year of repeated emergency fixes.
  • Google is keeping bug details restricted during the rollout and says it may maintain limits if third-party projects that use the affected library have not yet patched.
  • The company warns the update may take days or weeks to reach everyone; users should update and restart promptly, noting that incognito tabs will not be restored after relaunch.
